Remove Super Glue from all surfaces with this easy guide

Life has a way to bring in the most stuck situations at the worst of times. Yes, stuck literally. Whenever we break something, say a beautiful showpiece or something that comes apart, our first reprieve is to glue it up. And it works, too. From quick emergency handling while traveling, to secretly gluing something we broke in friend’s house, Super Glue comes in quite handy.

But removing glue can be quite a sticky situation, right? We are all victims of glued hands that we hurriedly pulled apart and got bleeding fingers. Removing Super Glue from surfaces is equally hard. However, to save you from the same fate, here is a small guide from the makers of Super Glue, allowing you to remove the Super Glue easily from a variety of surfaces, safely and without injury.

Skin

Sticking fingers together is always the result of hasty fixes when we want to run through the process, and end up wasting even more time. While you can work safely with Super Glue, if you pay a bit of attention, accidents are still bound to occur. So, use this when you get your fingers glued together, or drop Super Glue onto any other part of your body.

Firstly, you will need to get some warm water. Then dip the area glued and gently try to remove the glue. Never force the glue off your skin unless you want to see some bleeding. Keep wetting your fingers in the warm water until the glue bond weakens, and you can remove the Super Glue easily.

If the glue does not come off with warm water and soap, too, try using acetone to remove Super Glue. Mainly used in nail paint removers, acetone weakens the glue bond and hence helps you remove the Super Glue easily. Dab some acetone onto the stuck area with a cotton swab, and peel off the glue.

Clothes

To remove Super Glue from clothes, once again, you will need some acetone. A cotton swab will not be ideal here as it will not help to remove the glue that penetrated into the fabric. So to remove Super Glue from clothes or fabric, you will need a toothbrush. Pour a tiny amount of acetone to remove Super Glue onto the fabric and gently try exfoliating motions with the brush. Do not be hasty, or you can tear off the cloth.

Wood and other surfaces

When removing Super Glue from surfaces, pick up your trusty acetone bottle again, and begin working by using acetone to remove super glue. But, the method will differ here too. Apply the acetone in a minimal amount and save it from touching the surface. Rub the acetone on the glued area to weaken the Super Glue bonds. As it becomes less hard, pick a file, or sandpaper and sand off the weakened glue.
